"I Ain't Buying It"

Look closely at that picture. Now, I don't know about evolution, but I can tell you these chimps don't know what situation they're in. You on the other hand do, that is you have the choice. They don't.

Jesus said, You can't serve two masters. Well, one of them set up that tableau you see there. Cute little family in the right clothes, right postures, doing the right tricks, buying the right products, living in the right house in the right neighbourhood, driving the right car(s), etc. That's the situation. We bought into it: mortgages, loans at interest and to keep ourselves safe from the knowledge of our own slavery we drug ourselves with TV, alcohol, coke, MDMA and loud music, you name it.

Think about alcohol and the Indians. It defeated them. Thing is, the people who used it to defeat them were already defeated. Already imperial slaves. Not only have we bought their claptrap about freedom, money and the open market, by servicing them through consumption we're helping them perpetuate the system that binds us. Talk about house-slaves. Who's the domestic here do you think?

Americans, 5% of the world's population, consume 25% of the world's resources. If you're at all worried about your fellow men, perpetual warfare and the environment these figures ought to give you pause. They ought to if you're human.

We talk long and hard about freedom and independence, but take a good look at what I've just written and tell me where you SEE freedom? Where do you SEE independence? Yet you still have a choice. The question you have to ask yourself is this: Am I buying it? Sometimes people comment on the posts here and say, But what can we do?

Well, pretty simple things to begin with. Just say no to dope. Drop the TV. Not just the cable connection, but TV itself. I haven't watched or owned one for twenty years and I can tell you for a fact I ain't missed a thing. Get out of debt. Get out of the bar. Buy local produce and thereby boycott Monsanto. Learn frugality, learn thrift. Stop feeding your ego with what they tell you you need, only to fill their coffers and "make you happy and fulfilled," and stick to what is necessary. Nurture your spirit.

Let me tell you why that works. Marching on the capitol shouting slogans is done in a few hours and it might make the news, might ruffle a few feathers. Might make you feel better over the post-demo beer. But the powers that be NEED consumers (as in people suffering from consumption). They need you to feel that guilt around noon Saturday when you realize you just blew your paycheck and the bills are still there and you're back in the grind. Working for consumption, 'cause that's what you've been reduced to. You're no longer human. Not in their eyes. The suggestions are many, here at this blog or following the links. You probably have loads of ideas yourself.

But first and foremost, look at that picture, get rid of the blinkers. Stop drugging yourself. Get out of the mist. Step into the light. Say, simply,

I ain't buying it.

And watch Babylon shudder.

Brilliant! Very well said.

Freedom not exercised is not freedom.

A man who is bound by his own accord is much worse off than a man bound against his will. The latter is free, but oppressed. The former is truly a slave.

thx. just thought of something. one of the problems with joblessness. if we acually scaled down as a community our spending. if we actually got by with the necessary and supported the local mightn't we be able to turn things around that way too. I mean of a person needed less in order to get by things might become more reasonable, wages, prices etc. you know?

i mean, if we went for equilibrium, natural cycles of expansion and contraction, instead of this impossible idea of "constant growth" which is cancerous. we might revive local crafts, local produce markets, local whatever. more self-employed folk, more independence. you with me here?

I agree that constant consumption without recycling is unsustainable. The selfish and the greedy have turned our economy into a black hole with their utter disregard for sustainability - they freely exploit the earth and humanity.

However, cutting things down to the bare necessities is really not necessary. The world's resources are plentiful. We must simply not "consume" them. We must behave responsibly, develop sustainable technologies and enjoy a life of leisure.

I am convinced that if our world was interest-free and were not burdened by that diabolical atrocity they call IP, there would be enough advanced technology and cooperation for every human being on earth to live a comfortable and satisfying life.

The problem with our society is encapsulated in our obsession with competition. Competition has become a twisted false god that is worshipped as an end in itself along with greed, when it is simply one means by which economy maintains equilibrium.

Competition is only desirable while it enhances people's lives, not when it destroys it. The only way that humanity can emerge from poverty and conflict is through an economic system that is inclusive and based on freedom, co-operation, and sustainability.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean when you say "bare necessities," but I'm quite sure I never mentioned them. what I proposed was to cut down to the necessary. I mean how many types of deodorant does a man need for example? how many pairs of shoes?

then again, maybe we do mean the same and are kind of half empty/half full about it? :)

anyway, i bake my own bread for example. make my own cereal, cook and prepare my own simple meals. and sure things take time but i don't have TV on my program. and so on…

waht i'm saying is: even reduced to a consumer you have leverage. i mean, these people have control because we've assigned it to them. how do we take it back? don't buy into it. they can't really force us to mortgage our houses can they? if we live frugally?

i don't think so. maybe, instead of crying out for change at the top we should just go ahead and institute chnage where we are, at the bottom or whatever.

like matt johnson used to sing: if you want to change the world, change yourself.

revolution does begin at home.

Yes, I agree completely. Affirmative and disciplined, self-moderation are the most powerful means by which we can change this grotesque system.

I only meant to point out that, in theory, once the present oppressive and unsustainable system is abolished, we could, through creativity and co-operation, build a bountiful future for all.

Comparitively, a system based on co-operation and sharing that which can be shared, would give everyone much more leisure time than would be possible now, under this parceled and rationed economy.

This is how yor average American thinks, and this is why we are screwed...

Credit Obesity - Happiness at $10 a month, Americas other obesity problem.

What can I buy? What can I buy? I want to buy something. I don’t care what it is; I just want to buy something. Why can’t I? I deserve it. My neighbor just bought a new stove, now I want something, I need to buy something. I can't go another week without buying something; I need to buy something now. That, I want that. How much is it? $350.00, Its OK, I'll just charge it, the sign says “Just $10 a month”, that’s fine, that’s easy, $10 is nothing. Ah, I feel better now…until next time.

Unfortunately this is the type of mindset that has rooted itself deeply into today’s credit hungry Americans and has fast become the norm in a society unknowingly laying the foundation for the next generation of would-be consumers, our children. The vast majority of today’s Americans feel a need to fill a void within their sad empty lives as they become conditioned to behave like material gorging animals, exposed to the slick marketing skills and lies of the corporate machine.

You are a label Mr. & Mrs. America, you’re a “Consumer”, not a citizen, but a consumer, and that’s all you will ever be in the eyes of Mega Corp Inc. You’re a statistic, a percentage point on a corporate profit chart, a little electronic bit, essentially a walking piece of plastic with a magnetic strip on your forehead. And the folks at Mega Corp Inc are continuously seeking ways to make it easier to get you to swipe that card more often. Don’t you just love it? But the American consumer does not care. As long he has his 56” flat screen plasma T.V for $10.00 a month he’s happy for the next 6 months regardless of the long term consequences.

Its goes something like this…

Buy this product and your friends and family will be impressed with your sophistication and progressive intellect. You can’t possibly be happy and feel successful unless you own my product. Keep buying; keep consuming, I’ve got more happiness for you to finance. Don’t worry about paying for it, I’ll make it easy, charge it, and charge it some more. You can finance your happiness with us, just $10 a month, just swipe and sign. Thank you consumer, I just made my quarterly bonus with that last and final swipe, you’re tapped out. But do not despair consumer, do not fret, you can always refinance with me too, just sign on the dotted line and off you go again, spend, consume and spend some more. And so the cycle goes on. The American Dream has become an endless supply of cheap readily available credit. Heck, we even have a “Proud Sponsor of The American Dream”.

[Ed note: Sophistication is simply another way to part a fool from his money, and the feeling its short lived.]

Americans are hooked on credit and consumption like an obese person with an eating disorder is hooked on food. Were fat America, fat on credit. This credit obesity problem though affects far more people than all the people with eating disorders. The stresses endured by it with making the payments, worrying about cash flow, and balancing the family budget create detrimental conditions to our health that show up slowly over time. This condition runs deep; it’s in the consumer’s blood, running through their veins like a toxic poison. Only it’s not just poisoning them, it’s also poisoning our children and we don’t even know it. Our children see us swiping and signing all day long, what must they think when they see us with these little bits of plastic in our wallets swiping like no tomorrow. Its like magic, Daddy has this thing in his wallet that buys me all kids of toys and stuff for my room; he makes it look so easy and fun. Heck, even I have a toy in my room that copies what Daddy does. I have a register, and tiny little plastic cards juts like Daddy. I can even swipe them through a machine just like Daddy. I can’t wait until I grow up because I want one just like Daddy…sigh

Credit, we can’t function without it. Have you ever tried to actually live within, or god forbid, beneath your means? For the average American consumer it’s near impossible to do either, especially the later, and it’s getting harder every day. We have become the ultimate consuming nation; our economy is two thirds built on the wallets of the consumer. What will happen when the spending stops? I don’t want to think about it.

With all their widgets and gadgets proudly displayed throughout their Mc Mansions they have financed their lives into oblivion. There’s that one question that eludes us all…”How do they do it?” I’ve got news for you America,”There up to their eyeballs in it”, debt that is. I know a family that I feel very bad for. They have financed their lives to the max. They are hooked on credit and can’t seem to function without a continuous supply of it using their house as an ATM. They literally have no equity left in their house, buy their disclosed admission. Their mentality that I have observed from afar it typical of what I mention above. They love spending hundreds of dollars on widgets and gadgets, and other material items but fail to set priorities like send their kids to all week Pre School, just 3 days a week recently. They have very little in savings, Dad works 6-7 days a week, while moms is at home driving to the mall right after she drops little Bobby of at preschool. It’s insane to watch. It makes me want to go over there and slap her silly to wake her up from this credit trance she is in. There slaves to credit and debt and don’t even know it.

The day will come when the spending will stop, and the easy credit gravy train will derail taking down with it Mr. and Mrs. American consumer. It’s going to be painful, but isn’t any bad habit painful to kick. The problem is that this bad habit supports the life of our economy, our comfort levels coupled with standards of living. It’s going to be ugly. The savings rate level in this country is below 1%, its actually negative when you consider all the credit Americans have leveraged, scary stuff huh… but is does not matter they say, all is well the federal town crier is yelling. Keep spending; keep consuming, for your lives depend on it.

END

jc, I'm with you on this.Think of how many things we now buy at Target or Wal-Mart are made in China, or by exploited peoples of the third world.
Americans are brainwashed from childhood to want more "toys". It has changed the Christian holiday of Christmas into a celebration of Mammon.Remember the '80's when the yuppie credo was "He who dies with the most toys, wins"? This only shows the immaturity of this lifestyle, they are not toys, they are merely status symbols for those who feel inadequate otherwise.
I rarely buy anything I don't absolutely need. Clothes, if I really need them, I purchase at a thrift store. I only have four pairs of shoes:work shoes, dress shoes (from my ex-wife's Grandfather after he passed and actually made in America), and two pairs of tennis shoes.I have no cable tv and rarely turn the tv on at all as I find nothing of real value there. We are locked in a fantasy where we all have to look cool and hip and fashionable when those who were actually cool and hip that we admire (the beats) didn't covet things to make them cool, they just were.
Your message is important, it's just too bad no one wil snap off the tv and get off the couch to read it.

Just another thought on joblessess to build on what JC says....
I woke up this morning thinking about the thousands of people losing their jobs in the auto market particularly & wondered myself; what can s/he do now for work... s/he now has to jump through their hoops or making us think inside the box that "they've" created, in our minds. what would i do in their position... i'd think i'd become a FARMER. There's nothing telling me that i can't turn my backyard, in my house, that i'm debted to pay off, & turn it into a kind of local community vegetable farm....
I know it sounds kind of funny, but it just might work... Use their "laws" against them... maybe even their tax-breaks. A community farmer of sorts.
That's one of my back-up plans!!

Come on, Apollonian; you've been fairly constructive, as far as you can be. Why throw it all away? You have your own site where you can advocate whatever you will.

You're free to convey your ideas, however illogical some of them are. But, keep your calls to indiscriminate violence off this blog.

This blog advocates peace, not war; life, not death.

Gotcha qrswave, whatever. There was a direct link fm headline on WhatReallyHappened.com again to this little blog (there were a couple, actually, to ur other blogs, I think, he must like this site for some reason), so I naturally clicked in and made a note for the info of the volk.

Get it straight qrswave, I'm not advocating, as u hysterically assert, "indiscriminate violence," and I never have; u allege falsely. Rather I advocate we white folk and Christians, and the West generally, do something in way of serious self-defense against the clear and obvious enemy, the Judeo-"Sadducean" conspiracy and its cats-paws, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) et al. and Israel. (Best expo on CFR is surely on JBS.org.)

Note all u're effectively doing is, quite literally, aiding and abetting the enemy. What u should rather be doing is requiring those who post stuff to supply facts and references, which I do and u don't.

I'll say this for ur edification: if u want a good site with outstanding info and expo on Jews and the terror-state of Israel, ck Judicial-inc.biz, featuring a slide show format, heavy on the visuals. Sometimes the guy is a little fast and loose, as when he asserts George Lincoln Rockwell was a Jew, but for the most part the webmaster is an outstanding genius, I'd say, usually with excellent references. Did u know, for example, regarding the Columbine mass murders, Harris, as well as Klebold, was a self-admitted Jew, as he mentioned to his Jew girl-friend? Nearly all the others of the "trench-coat mafia" were Jews, some of whom surely helped Klebold and Harris who gleefully went about killing Christians.

If my ideas are illogical as u pretend, then u just need an argument with premises comrade, so as to give some clue for substantiation, especially as u pretend to reason and logic, etc., urself. Otherwise u represent female humanity quite poorly. More and more, the petulant, immature girl comes out of u, eh?--with unsubstantiated assertions and threats regarding what can and cannot be stated on ur blog. U ought to face the fact u're not able to get away fm the Jew issue: they're the problem, the human agents, along with their "Sadducean" co-conspirators, behind the large OBJECTIVE-SUBJECTIVE metaphysical conflict, essence of Spenglerian "Decline of the West." If u want to defend those disgusting Jews, ok, but u need facts and arguments as this is the way to continue to pretending u're rational and logical. Try to get a clue comrade. Apollonian

I really like this:

dress shoes (from my ex-wife's Grandfather after he passed and actually made in America) [lew's comment]

wonder how old they are? and lew's still wearing them. that's craft. that's quality. that was definitely not machine made. there was a time when good shoes taken care of could last years, generations. cars, shirt, jackets etc.

now no mere, why, cause MegaCorp's in debt and therefore craves growth and constant increase in profits so the quality of merchandise goes down. can't make shoes to last or we go bust. have to make them cheaper and so on, fire workers, borrow money, but new machines, service debt, cut back on quality, fire workers, move plants, on and on and on.

and to think that shoemakers' stores once were passed on from generation to generation. father to son, proud craftsmen. now these men stand by machines pumping out inferior wares they can't afford to buy. make any sense?

oh, apollonian…btw, are you for real? and what's with the ad hominem's anyway? q's stating opinion, so are you. what's next? bush is a jew, cheney? rumsfeld? rice? c'mon. wouldn't it be nice to just take resposibilty for our own actions just for once instead of scapegoating to make ourselves feel good and truthy and victimy?

we can get things done here.

Hey 11:12 "jc"--what's ur real problem with whether I'm "for real"?--who do u think u're kidding? Didn't u read qrswave's text about ck-ing the other relevant posts for previous exchanges, since u're so interested? Do u even understand what an "ad hominem" is?

What are u talking about regarding "scapegoating," u presumptuous creature? Do conspiracies exist or not? Is the Federal Reserve Bank (Fed) counterfeiting scam a conspiracy or not? If there were any non-Jew Fed Chairmen, I wonder who they might be. Note I gave my references as always--so either ck them out or spare us your absurd and presumptuous babbling.

Is Bush a Jew?--check TexeMarrs.com, and u'll see there is some distinct evidence that is exactly what he is. Did u know there were other Jew ("crypto"-types) presidents?--like the Roosevelts, Eisenhower, and Johnson. Why does Bush suck the excrement of Israel as when he was quoted in the UK Guardian to effect, "Israel is our ally, and we're committed to her safety." I say to hell w. Israel, an enemy nation. Who deliberately attacked the USS Liberty in 1967?--are u even aware? Who admitted he and fellow conspirators "pulled" WTC 7 on 9-11?--answer: a Jew named Silverstein. Did u know Brown, the disgraced FEMA official who resigned over the Hurr. Katrina fiasco was a Jew?

Admit the truth: to u, Jews are above any possible suspicion, a priori, and this is simply ur utterly brainless religion, so well-learned, which u want to push on everyone else.

Get it straight: USA is a Christian country, period. Christianity is properly antisemitic, its very fundamental purpose: antisemitism. Jews suck, and it isn't "scapegoating." Jews, as in form of communists, murdered the Russians after 1917, the Ukrainians in the 1930s, the Germans in the 1940's. Jews own and run the Fed, Hollywood, and the mass Jews-media (ck Mike Collins Pipers, The New Jerusalem); they run the present Homeland Security. Do u understand the Talmud, what it is and says? Ck my arguments given (as so far the only posting) on this site's Truth vs. Lies blog and tell me if they're eminently persuasive or not; see if they're not, and if u don't think so then be so kind as to say something as to why not, eh?

Unfortunately I guess, we know u're all too "for real," don't we?--the purely conventional, cliche'-spouting slacker-type, obligatorily knocking the corporations, such easy and obvious targets, like all the other "cool" slacker-types, so well-trained to react against any criticism of the Jews. "C'mon" slacker-brains, try to do some serious thought patterns, like paying attention to references. Get real comrade: "It's the Jews, stupid," as Edgar Steele points out on his site, ConspiracyPenPal.com. I'm sure qrswave appreciates u love her and all that. Otherwise try to say something substantial hence original; do some checking for sources before running ur proverbial mouth. "C'mon."

oh, almost forgot:

ad hom·i·nemadj.
Appealing to personal considerations rather than to logic or reason: Debaters should avoid ad hominem arguments that question their opponents' motives.
[Latin : ad, to + hominem, accusative of hom, man.]

ad homi·nem adv.
Usage Note: As the principal meaning of the preposition ad suggests, the homo of ad hominem was originally the person to whom an argument was addressed, not its subject. The phrase denoted an argument designed to appeal to the listener's emotions rather than to reason, as in the sentence The Republicans' evocation of pity for the small farmer struggling to maintain his property is a purely ad hominem argument for reducing inheritance taxes. This usage appears to be waning; only 37 percent of the Usage Panel finds this sentence acceptable. The phrase now chiefly describes an argument based on the failings of an adversary rather than on the merits of the case: Ad hominem attacks on one's opponent are a tried-and-true strategy for people who have a case that is weak. Ninety percent of the Panel finds this sentence acceptable. The expression now also has a looser use in referring to any personal attack, whether or not it is part of an argument, as in It isn't in the best interests of the nation for the press to attack him in this personal, ad hominem way. This use is acceptable to 65 percent of the Panel.·Ad hominem has also recently acquired a use as a noun denoting personal attacks, as in "Notwithstanding all the ad hominem, Gingrich insists that he and Panetta can work together" Washington Post. This usage may raise some eyebrows, though it appears to be gaining ground in journalistic style.·A modern coinage patterned on ad hominem is ad feminam, as in "Its treatment of Nabokov and its ad feminam attack on his wife Vera often border on character assassination" Simon Karlinsky. Though some would argue that this neologism is unnecessary because the Latin word homo refers to humans generically, rather than to the male sex, in some contexts ad feminam has a more specific meaning than ad hominem, being used to describe attacks on women as women or because they are women, as in "Their recourse ... to ad feminam attacks evidences the chilly climate for women's leadership on campus" Donna M. Riley.

seems yr comments qualify for all of the above, but still, whatever man.

To JC of 9:51 and 9:36 PM above, Very good on the ad hominem, but u should do ur homework before, not after, u stick ur foot in ur mouth, eh? Now pls explain this: whatever on earth are/were u talking about regarding ur puerile accusation of ad hominem?--see, that was the problem in the first place wasn't/isn't it? Note if I speak to the issue in one sentence, then add something else regarding criticism of the adverse interlocutor's style or manner, it doesn't necessarily qualify as ad hominem as ad hominem is only execrable as diversion, a substitution for speaking to the issue--whatever it is u MAY have had in ur little mind. I absolutely assure u I spoke to qrswave's "issues," qrswave then, like the typical female, simply ignoring and then repeating her original fallacies. Likewise if qrswave accuses me of illogic, I'm eager to know what she's talking about in order to make things clear for the dear girl (after all, it's the way I care for her, eh?). Observe qrswave continues to insist collectivistic treatment is always under any circumstances unjustified--just another way of saying (defensive) warfare is unjustified. (But then again, what warfare was not "defensive," eh?) But we practical humans understand self-defense requires such collectivist treatment as history and reality demonstrate. U of course may continue to disagree, but no one of any consequence will pay attention to such irrationalist subjectivism pretending to self-righteousness and (typically undefined) "good." U then simply isolate urselves as that inane minority pretending to some inane, unreal "virtue" which if practiced by your fellows would amount to mass-suicide--thus u're ignored for the smug "idealists," u really are. We patriots are determined to meet the Judaic-"Sadducean" enemy and deal in the same collectivistic manner by which we're treated--it's most efficient and effective as all rational people, unlike u, agree.

Further, as I pointed out, u ignore qrswave's own reference to previous postings on other blogs and sites which I've duly cited. Why should anyone take such impudent childishness as urs seriously?--"whatever."

I believe we, as bloggers, should strive to speak forthrightly to the issues, hence that we make honest efforts thereto. But u obviously don't wanna do that, eh, JC?--rather, u just want to impress people with ur "slacker"-mindedness, "c'mon," "whatever," eh? Hence the honest blogger has to be satisfied with what we post as pretty much speaking for itself, and I'm confident anyone reading this knows I made honest effort whereas u just want to impress people with cheap effects, ur latest disquisition on ad hominem just a case in point: (a) it was way too much text, and (b) it was actually irrelevant as I explained above. Again, ad hominem is meant as substitute for speaking to issue, a diversion. My criticism of qrswave's style was in ADDITION to the substance I provided--aside fm ur too convenient lack of criticism of qrswave herself, her own irrelevance.

Hence I recommend: (1) go back to ur first entry addressed to me and clarify what u were attempting to talk about. (2) Take some account of my reply to ur first address in the way of the substantial details adduced. That way u might then be taken more seriously comrade. "C'mon." Apollonian
