Happy New Year! Israeli-style

What better way to celebrate than to make others' lives miserable?
Israeli Defense Minister Amir Peretz Thursday ordered the army to impose a full closure on the West Bank and Gaza during the Jewish New Year holiday, local media reported.
And then they wonder why people hate them so much.

UPDATE: It wouldn't be New Years without fireworks . . .
An Israeli warplane leveled Friday night a house with at least one missile in the south of the Gaza Strip City of Rafah.

Witnesses said that Abu Jarad family fled their two-storey house minutes before bombardment as the Israeli Occupation Forces notified them being targeted in air strike.
I don't even want to know what they exchange as holiday gifts.

I can see what's wrong with our relationship with Israel - an apartheid state.

But, what's wrong with the Mexican and the Indian governments - aside from the fact that the rich exploit the poor? (which of course should be remedied there, just as it should be remedied here.)

"This title is dangerously close to the title of the piece by Joanna Francis 'Post-Natal Abortion: Israeli Style' "

Give me a break, ed.

Do you know how many posts I've used the phrase 'Israeli Style' or some variation of it?

I can remember at least three, the links to which I will include - not so much to rebut your silly accusation but to further inform people of Israeli madness.

The fine art of ‘self-defense’ – Israeli style

Genocide – Israeli-style, also known as self-defense

the beginning of the end for Israel - mad dog style

No one has a monopoly on language.

Your accusation is a joke that makes the assumption that my blog is about me or my ego as opposed to being a genuine effort to inform.

hey edward brent - i've seen other people put one sentence after another before I read your comment. You shouldn't copy other peoples work.

btw, ed - I don't mean to be curt.

Your comments are welcome, as are everybody else's.

In fact, it's good that you drew attention to the fact that for some people this is more about competition than it is about truth and justice.

I don't in anyway mean to infer that about Joanna Francis, whose work, if I recall correctly was linked at Crescent and Cross one time. If I'm correct, then I admire her work a lot.

I mean it in a general sense.

If we are ever going to get anywhere in this struggle we must overcome the hideous paradigm -engrained in our subconcious through thousands of hours of marketing - that we must always compete with one another rather than SHARE.

Above all - the most important standard that we must learn to SHARE is our language, for it's one of the most powerful ways to communicate the truth.

Joanna!

:D

thanks for stopping by and clearing this up!

I hope that now we can all live in peace (that includes you, Ed!) and focus instead on how to stop Israel's murderous madness

Excuse me, Shimshon, but if I recall correctly today is the start of the Holy month of Ramadan, Muslims' Highest Holidy.

Your logic is as twisted as your sarcasm. Israeli conduct is precisely what drives Palestinians to want to bomb them - No Justice, No Peace.

If Israelis want to be left alone during their Highest Holiday, they should leave others alone to celebrate theirs.

Anyone up for some action? When I was in undergraduate school a group of students got together and blocked of various commonly used routes to students to demonstrate how Israel treats the Palestinians. There isn't enough time to plan this protest for this years high holidays, but perhaps next year!
